or Y2K, Norris Craft decided to concentrate on refining and upgrading its flagship model, the 2000 FXLD Vee instead of adding another boat to the line.

Aimed at the performance-minded anglers who want lake-dominating speed without sacrificing comfort and fishability, the 2000 FXLD Vee features new colors and graphics schemes, improved rod locker storage system, higher-output livewell aeration pumps, deluxe instrument and control panels, heavier ( 20 ounce ) marine carpeting and larger handles on the deck latches.

All Norris Craft boats are custom built to the customers specifications rather than for dealer stock. Color choices are unlimited, with up to seven different colors on each boat. Customizing the serial number with the owner's date of birth reminds customer's that they aren't just buying a boat; they're buying into the Norris Craft family.

Bass anglers will find plenty of room to accommodate their fishing style, with the new rod locker system to keep rods and tackle orderly, plus room for five rods above the standard 12 in the center mounted locker. the partner's rod locker can handle more than15 rods and still have room for tackle and extra gear. Both lockers are easy to access whether the boat is in the water or on the trailer.

A huge dry storage area in front of the console with a "secret shelf " helps to store lures, flashlights, pliers and other necessary gear. An additional dry storage compartment between the driver and passenger seats serves as a third center seat or a step up to the rear deck. Fully carpeted inside, cell phones,

photography equipment and other delicate items can be stored safely.

Norris Craft incorporates an adjustable seat so driver's can match the seat to their driving position, along with dash layouts custom arranged to the driver's specifications, so instrumentation varies boat to boat.

Fishing concerns are amply met with a large 45-gallon divided livewell accessed by two insulated lids. Rounded corners ensure that fish won't be injured during rough rides, and the Flow-Rite valve controls provide recirculated water. A built in cooler is also standard. Livewells and coolers are color-coordinated to match the boat.

The rear compartment houses a 32-gallon fuel tank and three batteries, while a special oil tank platform keeps the tank up and out of the way, yet easy to access and fill.

Performance is a major concern at Norris Craft, and the 2000 FXLD Vee can satisfy the speed and handling of just about any angler. In rough, choppy water, the FXLD Vee really shines, and the 94-inch beam makes it very stable at rest.

Top speeds vary with engine size, and it's well-known among the performance-minded that Norris Craft hulls rank up there in the top three or four manufacturers when the big numbers are called for. Many reports of 90-plus mph Norris Crafts have filtered their way back to B&WB.
