Because of our limited production and time consuming procedures, we are going to keep the pictures updated. We will replace the pictures and the new owners names as their boat goes through the processes. Now with the help of the internet you can keep track of your new Norris Craft as it is being built. The information will stay the same, but the boat owners name and pictures will change as the status of their new boat changes.

Molds and Mold Care

.

The key to a quality boat is to have a top quality mold. The mold is the product of a model boat, which most people call a proto type. We design and test our own proto types before the mold is constructed. This allows us to do extensive testing and perfecting before the first boat is produced. We will spend months and even years in our R&D department  block sanding, shaving, perfecting and testing ideas prototype.jpg (5474 bytes)before they are released to our customers. Countless hours are spent blue printing and perfecting the proto type running pad and critical running areas to obtain high efficiency. Even our accessories are tested for months by our fishing team and personal demo's to determine if they stand up to Norris Craft quality. When the proto type is up to our standards and gone over repeatedly for any flaws, inspections, ect. we build a mold. The finish of any boat is directly related to the quality of their molds. At Norris Craft we spare no expense to the developing of heavy duty molds and only experienced and qualified employees are allowed to touch the molds. Special bracing and reinforcements are added to support the ton of pressure we apply to the floor system when we inject our foam. The mold finish is hand waxed with release agents to assure a clean release and intensify the high gloss finish.

Multi Colored Paint Schemes and Gelcoats

.
Boats are built in reverse order from which they appear. The first step in our process is to apply the gelcoat to the mold. We have a state of the art paint booth to provide a dust free environment to apply paint.jpg (12088 bytes)the gelcoat. the gelcoats are applied by highly experienced painters, who apply the colors to the stripes and graphics. Due to the number of colors in our paint scheme this process is complicated and time consuming. It requires multiple applications of gelcoats and experienced manipulation of chemical reactions to assure clean stripes and high glossy finishes. Tolerance is tight and mixtures are carefully calculated. Our final painting is a special treatment to ensure that air entrapment can be found and corrected by the lay up crew to prevent air bubbles in the lamination.
